233 Developers - Helping Rural Ghana
Hi! My name is Diamond (yeah, that's my real name) . I am a recent graduate and a freelance translator. In my free time, I like to try to find fun projects around the world that help grow communities whether it be in education, health services, food and shelter, or just putting smiles on people's faces.
For this project, I have been granted the opportunity to do a little bit of everything! I was presented with a FANTASTIC offer to visit West Africa to help develop and open schools and small healthcare facilities in remote areas. Unfortunately, I am unable to go at this time :-( HOWEVER, I have a friend who lives in Ghana who wishes to start a computer development company. I told him about the opportunity to volunteer and open schools in remote areas in Ghana and other parts of West Africa and after a moment of silence , he shouts ''ABSOLUTELY! I AM IN!!!'' After a bit more talking, he decided to turn his entire business idea into something more beneficial to the rural communities of Ghana and other parts of West Africa. This means, his computer development idea will be geared to aiding small schools and facilities with free software for educational and health purposes. He will not only create and install these software, but educate a few parents and youth on how to successfully use these products to enhance the growth of their community in the long run. Doesn't that sound great? We get to help communities not only get better for now, but for generations ahead! HERE'S WHERE YOU COME IN: Okay , so we DO need a bit of help to get the materials necessary to get the ball rollin' on this project so I have set a small goal of $1000.00 to get started (it is not much , but I do not want to ask for too much you know....) I know you are wondering, "What is this money for?" Well, this $1000 will be used to: 1: Hire a good team of software developers to help my friend create a good stable software that can work under all conditions (especially because these materials will be used in remote area #NoInternet #NoStableElectricity) 2: Travel expenses! - Although my friend lives in Ghana, he lives in the centre of the capital Accra , so most of these rural areas are a good distance away, so expenses can get ... expensive 3: Tools and Materials used to develop a successful format and software program. As I have mentioned earlier, we must must MUST make sure these software work well under some unstable conditions being in a rural area 4: Tools used to train and educate those in rural areas to use and maintain this software successfully in order that they can keep things rolling after the team of awesome developers have completed all of the tasks to start making a brighter future! When you donate: I, will personally send you a note of gratitude and constant updates on our progress. We really appreciate your consideration and hope that we can reach our goal before Christmas (because, Christmas is the best time to give the gift of a brighter future ). So, make a donation, say a prayer, tell a friend. Thanks for reading ! Diamond :-) |
